AI vocal remover: remove vocals from a song online
To remove vocals from a song online, upload the track to IchiPitchy and run AI vocal separation. It splits the mix into two stems — an isolated vocal and a clean instrumental — which you can preview and download together as a .zip. It runs in a browser tab, free, with nothing to install.
How to remove vocals from a song
- Sign in and import the song (WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG or WEBM, up to 100 MB).
- Run vocal separation. The AI model splits the mix into a vocal stem and an instrumental stem.
- Preview both stems in the player to check the split before you commit.
- Download the stems together as a .zip, or keep working on either one inside IchiPitchy.
Instrumental, acapella, or karaoke — same one step
Vocal separation produces both halves at once, so which one you keep is up to you. Keep the instrumental and you have a backing track or karaoke version. Keep the vocal and you have an acapella you can then tune note by note in the editor.
Because the separated vocal stays inside the same project, you can go straight from removing the instrumental to fixing the pitch of what is left — without exporting, re-importing, or switching tools.
What happens after the split
Unlike a single-purpose vocal remover, the stems land in a studio. The isolated vocal can be auto-tuned to a key and scale or edited note by note on a piano roll. The instrumental can go onto a mixer track and be balanced against a new vocal you record or upload.
Exports are lossless WAV, so nothing is re-compressed on the way out.
Why separation quality varies between songs
AI separation reconstructs each stem rather than subtracting one from the other, so the result depends on how the source was mixed. Sparse, dynamic mixes separate cleanly. Dense, heavily limited masters — where the vocal and instruments occupy the same frequencies at the same loudness — are much harder, and artefacts show up as a faint 'watery' quality or as reverb tails left behind in the instrumental.
Reverb is the usual culprit. A vocal drenched in reverb has its tail spread across the whole mix, so the model has to decide whether that energy belongs to the voice or the room. Dry, close-mic'd vocals separate best.
Step by step
- Import the song. Upload the track — WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG or WEBM, up to 100 MB.
- Run vocal separation. The AI model splits the mix into an isolated vocal stem and an instrumental stem.
- Preview both stems. Listen to each one before committing, so you can hear how cleanly the split worked.
- Download or keep working. Export both stems as a .zip, or tune the vocal and mix it in the same project.

Frequently asked questions
Is the vocal remover free?
Yes, completely. Vocal separation, and every other feature, is free — there is no payment, no subscription and no usage limit to buy past. You only need an account so your projects are saved to you.
Do I get both the instrumental and the vocal?
Both. One separation pass returns an isolated vocal stem and an instrumental stem, downloadable together as a .zip.
What audio formats can I upload?
WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG and WEBM, up to 100 MB per file.
Does removing vocals reduce the audio quality?
The instrumental is reconstructed by an AI separation model, so it is not bit-identical to an original studio instrumental. Exports themselves are lossless WAV, so no extra compression is added.
Can I remove vocals on my phone?
IchiPitchy is built for desktop browsers. The editing and mixing surfaces need a pointer and screen space, so mobile is not supported.
Why does the instrumental still have faint vocals?
Dense, heavily limited masters and reverb-heavy vocals are the hardest to separate, because the voice and the music occupy the same frequencies at the same loudness. Sparse, dry mixes separate far more cleanly.
Can I remove backing vocals but keep the lead?
No. Separation splits vocals from instruments; it does not distinguish a lead vocal from harmonies, which land in the same stem.
Is it legal to remove vocals from a song?
Separation does not change who owns the recording. Doing it for practice or private use is generally fine; publishing or performing the result depends on the rights to that song.
