# Turn a chord progression into a band

A chord progression generator turns chords into a playable arrangement. IchiPitchy takes a progression you type and renders it as real parts across 50 instruments, with drum grooves, strum patterns and comping styles that fit the meter you chose. The band is generated in your own browser with nothing uploaded, it is free and unlimited, and it is rule-based rather than AI, so the same settings always produce the same take.

## Writing the progression

Chords can be typed as text — C | F G | Am7 | % — where a bar can hold one chord or several, and % repeats the bar before it. Or build it chord by chord from 12 roots and 28 qualities: triads, sus, sixths, sevenths, adds, ninths, elevenths, thirteenths and altered dominants.

Progressions are not limited to the seven chords of the key. Secondary dominants, borrowed chords and straight chromatic moves all work, and a suggestion palette offers in-key, secondary-dominant and borrowed options with a short explanation of what each one does.

## Why the output is deterministic, not generative

The parts are produced by music-theory rules and hand-authored patterns rather than a model, which means the same chords, style, meter, groove and seed always render the same arrangement. Change the seed or press Reroll to get a different one on purpose.

That predictability is the point for a backing track. An arrangement that quietly changes every time you re-render is unusable as something to practise or record against.

- 31 hand-authored drum grooves and 44 strum patterns, with real guitar voicings and piano voice leading.

## What to do with the arrangement

Each part renders onto its own track in the multitrack mixer, so you can balance them, add effects, mute what you do not want, and record a vocal on top. Export the result as a lossless WAV or an MP3.
